Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist

Location: Miller House School LE2 2BN & The Grange Therapeutic School LE15 8LY, Leicestershire (Covering both locations)

Salary: Up to £53,200 FTE DOE

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Contract: Permanent (Term time only, or flexibility around full-time contracts can be discussed based on individual circumstances)

Essential: Full valid UK driving license and access to a personal vehicle

The role:
We are seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in-house clinical team at Miller House School and The Grange Therapeutic School.

You will collaborate with the education team to deliver tailored Speech and Language Therapy assessments and interventions for pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, are neurodivergent, or have social, emotional, and mental health needs. Adhering to the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, you will ensure your practices align with educational standards and the expectations of your governing and professional bodies. You will manage a caseload of Speech and Language therapy clients with full support from your designated clinical supervisor and site lead, while also contributing to staff training and consultations as needed. This position is ideal for a resilient, creative, and passionate individual.

Location: Miller House School and The Grange Therapeutic School are part of our Acorn Education brand, serving as independent specialist day schools for children and young people aged 8 to 18.

Essential Criteria:
- Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- HCPC registration
- Relevant experience in engaging with individuals exhibiting complex and diverse communication profiles
- Basic understanding of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practices
- Experience in multi-disciplinary collaboration across various settings
- Experience in communication with families and caregivers
- Interest in expanding knowledge and skills in various areas of Speech and Language Therapy
- Strong relationship-building, analytical, and judgment skills
- Effective communication skills (both oral and written)
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Competence in core areas of Speech and Language Therapy practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
- Familiarity with various Speech and Language Therapy assessment tools and intervention types, and ability to formulate support plans based on individual needs
- Awareness of legislation affecting clinical practice and professional management concerning the client group
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to pursue further training and qualifications relevant to the client group
- Full valid UK driving license and access to a personal vehicle

Desirable:
- Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may affect an individual's communication strengths and needs
- Awareness of the relationship between arousal levels and communication
