About This Role

Purpose of the Role

To ensure the school site is safe, secure, compliant, clean and well-maintained at all times, supporting a positive learning environment for pupils and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Site Security - open (and on occasion close) the school premises on required days, including unlocking/locking buildings and setting/unsetting alarms. Act as a key holder and respond to alarm activations and emergencies as required, carry out regular security checks of buildings and grounds.

Maintenance and Repairs - undertake basic maintenance and DIY tasks, identify and report defects requiring specialist contractors; maintain tools and equipment safely and effectively.

Health & Safety Compliance - ensure the school estates compliance system (iamcompliant) is fully up to date, with all checks either completed internally, or booked with contractors, support risk assessments and maintain accurate compliance records, ensure adherend to Trust policies and statutory regulations.

Cleaning Oversight - support or oversee cleaning arrangements where applicable, ensure the site remains clean, safe and hygienic.

Grounds Maintenance - carry out basic groundskeeping duties (eg litter picking, leaf clearance, gritting pathways), monitor outdoor areas, considering seasonal and rural factors (eg weather impact, vegetation control).

Contractor Supervision - liaise with and supervise external contractors on site, ensure contractors follow safeguarding and health and safety procedures.

Support for School Activities - assist with room setups for school events, lettings and community use, provide on-site support during occasional extended hours activities.

Emergency Response - act as first point of contact for site related emergencies, escalate issues appropriately to the Headteacher or Trust Central Team.

Safeguarding Responsibilities - adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures at all times, ensure site security supports the safeguarding of pupils and staff, report any concerns in line with school and Trust safeguarding protocols.

Physical Requirements - the role involves manual handing, lifting, use of ladders and working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Compensation

Β£28,142.00 - Β£29,540.00 Annually (FTE) Hours confirmed by mutual agreement at the point of role commencement - flexibility required for occasional out-of-hours duties, letting and emergency call-outs
