About This Role

Execute the designated curriculum while showcasing a thorough and current understanding of both the curriculum and subject matter.

Design and implement engaging lessons that inspire students. Develop and apply suitable materials and a conducive classroom atmosphere that accommodates diverse learning styles. Provide written documentation of planning and preparation when requested. Maintain organized records of curriculum and yearly plans, student attendance, teaching resources, and assessment strategies.

Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct consistently. Instruct students based on their unique needs, employing effective teaching methods tailored to various student capabilities, including late entrants, ESL learners, those with lower academic abilities, and gifted individuals.

Assign and evaluate work, and assess, document, and report on the academic growth, progress, and achievements of students, utilizing assessments to tailor the curriculum to each student's needs. Demonstrate proficiency in integrating media and technology within the classroom.

Support the overall progress and well-being of students, offering guidance on educational matters. Engage with external parties when necessary, such as officials from the Ministry of Education.

Participate in appraisal and Performance Management processes, as well as Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Collaborate with colleagues in the creation and enhancement of teaching materials, resources, study courses, and pastoral arrangements.

Take part in, and lead when suitable, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities within the school. Foster positive working relationships through proactive leadership and the sharing of ideas, resources, and experiences.

Oversee and promote safe and appropriate student behavior, devising strategies to encourage self-discipline and manage disruptive actions. Exemplify and encourage cultural awareness and appreciation, fostering a passion for learning.

Assist in the planning and organization of school events and activities, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and prize days.

Regularly communicate with parents, advocating for the GEMS philosophy and core values, while keeping them informed about their children’s progress, all while maintaining confidentiality regarding student-related information.

Show initiative and dedication beyond the standard work hours when tasks require additional effort. Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as needed.

Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by direct and indirect reporting line managers/supervisors.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
