About This Role

GEMS American Academy in Qatar seeks a dedicated and skilled professional to become part of our Middle/High School team. The start date for this position is 01 August 2026.

Key Responsibilities include:

- Uphold and promote the principles and standards of excellence as outlined in the GEMS Core Values.
- Deliver the designated curriculum, showcasing comprehensive and current knowledge of both curriculum content and subject matter.
- Design and implement engaging lessons that inspire students, while creating and utilizing suitable materials and classroom environments to accommodate various learning styles.
- Provide written documentation of lesson planning and preparation when requested. Maintain organized records of curriculum and yearly plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment strategies, and more.
- Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct consistently.
- Teach assigned students based on their individual needs, employing suitable teaching methods that address diverse abilities, including late entrants, ESL learners, those with lower academic performance, and gifted students.
- Set and evaluate assignments, assess and document students' academic growth, progress, and achievements, and utilize assessments to tailor the curriculum to meet individual student requirements.
- Demonstrate proficiency in integrating media and technology into the classroom.
- Support the overall development and well-being of students, providing guidance on educational matters.
- Communicate with external parties, such as Ministry of Education representatives, when necessary.
- Engage in performance appraisal and management procedures, as well as in ongoing professional development (CPD).
- Collaborate with colleagues to create and refine teaching materials, resources, study courses, and pastoral care arrangements.
- Participate in and, when appropriate, lead co-curricular and extra-curricular activities within the school. Foster positive working relationships through proactive leadership and the sharing of ideas, resources, and experiences.
- Monitor and oversee appropriate student behavior, developing strategies to encourage self-discipline and manage disruptive conduct.
- Exemplify and promote cultural awareness and understanding, while nurturing a passion for learning.
- Assist in planning and organizing school events and functions, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and award ceremonies.
- Communicate regularly with parents, advocating for the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep parents informed about their children's progress while maintaining confidentiality regarding student information.
- Demonstrate initiative and commitment beyond standard working hours when required by additional tasks.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by direct and indirect reporting line managers or supervisors.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
*Estimated range based on regional data averages.
