The Opportunity:
We are looking for a School Counsellor for our Senior School, primarily focusing on Grade 11 and 12 students. This full-time role will cover an 18-month leave and requires your presence on campus from Monday to Friday. As an integral member of the Grade 11-12 team, the School Counsellor will support students with academic planning, social-emotional learning (SEL), and overall well-being. The ideal candidate should have excellent relational, communication, and organizational abilities, allowing them to build a compassionate connection with students. The Counsellor will work closely with staff throughout the school and report to the Head of Student Support. This position is set to begin in August 2026.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide individual and small group counselling to fulfill students' social, emotional, and well-being needs.
- Collaborate with academic and learning strategy teachers, social workers, nurses, students, parents, and administrators to promote student well-being and development.
- Develop and maintain academic pathways to assist students with course planning and selection, in collaboration with University Counsellors.
- Engage in Parent-Teacher and/or Counsellor-Parent meetings.
- Communicate with parents and community members as needed to support student well-being.
- Guide students in building self-awareness, social skills, and relationship-building abilities.
- Support students in developing self-management skills such as organization and time management.
- Actively participate in interdisciplinary teams to formulate care and support plans for learning or social-emotional needs.
- Design, collaborate on, and deliver SEL curricular lessons and workshops for students.
- Teach students techniques for distress tolerance, self-motivation, and stress management.
- Assist in planning and participating in well-being education sessions for parents and staff.
- Provide guidance to students regarding behavioral, academic progress, and personal/social issues related to home, family, and peer relationships.
- Ensure that the written, taught, and assessed curriculum is consistent with IB, CEFR, and Ministry of Education standards, with appropriate differentiation.
- Stay informed about current resources, research, and best practices that support student well-being.
- Participate in the school's co-curricular activities, including coaching, clubs, special events, and trips.

Candidate Profile:
- A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- A dedicated educator with over 5 years of high school counselling experience and additional qualifications in Guidance and/or Counselling.
- Knowledge of the IB Diploma Program (DP) is a strong asset.
- A relational educator who incorporates Social-Emotional Learning and emotional coaching strategies into their practice, committed to DEI principles.
- Proficient in establishing strong, caring relationships with students.
- Collaborative and effective in working alongside colleagues throughout the faculty.
- Comfortable working with families.
- Knowledgeable about or experienced in managing educational opportunities with external organizations.
- Familiar with or experienced in overseeing scholarship opportunities.
- Competent in relevant technology and thrives in an innovative environment.

Target Hiring Range:
Placement on the Branksome Hall Faculty Salary Grid is determined by years of relevant teaching experience, level of education attained, and additional qualifications (AQs). The grid ranges from $70,903.08 to $101,270.67 for up to 6 years of experience and from $101,615.33 to $134,998.82 for over 6 years of relevant experience.
