Position: Principal – International Secondary School (Grades 7–12) American Curriculum

The Principal will be responsible for the overall administration and management of the secondary school, serving students in Grades 7 through 12. This position highlights the necessity of ensuring seamless school operations, offering support and oversight to teachers, and maintaining open lines of communication with parents. The Principal is committed to fostering a structured, safe, and professional atmosphere that encourages student success and staff productivity.

Primary Responsibilities:

School Administration

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the secondary school.
  • Ensure the consistent application of school policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Manage student discipline, attendance processes, and behavioral expectations.
  • Coordinate daily timetables, supervision assignments, and logistical functions for the school.
  • Supervise administrative and support staff within the secondary school sector.
  • Maintain accurate records related to student behavior, attendance, and school operations.
  • Guarantee compliance with school policies and local regulatory requirements.
  • Lead staff meetings focused on operational procedures and school management.

Parent Communication

  • Act as the main point of contact for parents regarding significant student behavior or concerns.
  • Serve as the primary contact for inquiries related to school policies.
  • Conduct meetings with parents about critical disciplinary issues, behavioral concerns, or school expectations.
  • Share important updates, policies, and procedures with families.
  • Encourage positive relationships between the school and families.
  • Work with coordinators and teachers to organize parent meetings when needed.

Teacher Supervision and Administrative Support

  • Oversee teachers to ensure adherence to school policies, professional standards, and expectations.
  • Conduct both formal and informal classroom observations, concentrating on professionalism, classroom management, and compliance with procedures.
  • Provide constructive feedback and administrative support to teaching staff.
  • Manage teacher schedules, responsibilities, and duties.
  • Address performance issues among staff and assist in the implementation of improvement plans when necessary.
  • Facilitate faculty meetings and ensure effective communication with staff members.
  • Support the onboarding of new teachers and ensure staff are well-acquainted with school policies and procedures.

Student Management

  • Supervise disciplinary procedures for students and ensure consistent enforcement of school rules.
  • Manage serious behavioral incidents and coordinate appropriate interventions.
  • Develop systems for monitoring student attendance and behavior.
  • Collaborate with coordinators and teachers to promote student well-being and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in school administration or leadership; knowledge of the American curriculum is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with teachers, parents, and students in an international school environment.
  • Fluency in English as a first language or at a C1 level; proficiency in Spanish is an advantage.
