About This Role

In the role of On Call Cover Learning Support Assistant (LSA) at Amity International School Amsterdam, you will provide individualized support to a student identified with special educational needs. Your primary focus will be to facilitate the pupil's full participation in classroom activities while ensuring their unique learning requirements are addressed. You will also play a vital role in maintaining the school's reputation, assisting its community members, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism.

Your Profile

  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Well-organized with effective time management skills.
  • Experience in supporting children facing learning challenges.
  • Background in teaching or teaching assistance.
  • A recognized teaching qualification, such as a Bachelor’s Degree with a PGCE or an equivalent teaching diploma (e.g., B.Ed.) is preferred.
  • Full-time availability is desirable.

Essential

  • Develop a trusting and supportive relationship with the pupil and understand their specific special educational needs.
  • Foster independence and encourage the pupil's inclusion across all aspects of school life while supporting their learning journey.
  • Facilitate interactions between the pupil and their peers both in the classroom and throughout the school.
  • Research and create materials that align with the general curriculum and the pupil’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals.
  • Collaborate with the Student Support Coordinator to enhance the therapy(ies) recommended by external specialists.
  • Implement the IEP provisions, including specially tailored instruction.
  • Utilize your understanding of the pupil's specific educational needs to assist in planning and providing feedback that promotes inclusion and progress.
  • Engage in meetings with parents/caregivers, the Learning Support Team, and the class teacher.
