About This Role

Shape a Dynamic Future: Generalist Secondary Educator

The British West Indies Collegiate (BWIC) is seeking a versatile, intellectually curious, and inspiring educator to become part of our team. As the premier independent school in the Turks and Caicos Islands, we are embarking on an exciting growth trajectory and are looking for a "polymath" teacher who thrives in a diverse, international high school environment.

At BWIC, our commitment lies in nurturing the "whole student." We are eager to find an educator who can adeptly navigate multiple disciplines, fostering both academic achievement and the personal growth that defines a true Spartan.

The Role

  • Interdisciplinary Excellence: Deliver exceptional instruction across a variety of subjects. We particularly value expertise in Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish), English, Humanities, and Science.
  • Curriculum Flexibility: Teach students in Key Stage 3 and the Cambridge (CAIE) IGCSE syllabus, showcasing the ability to adapt your teaching strategies to different subject standards.
  • A-Level Expansion: As we enhance our Sixth Form offerings, candidates who can deliver A-Level content in specialized subjects will be greatly appreciated.
  • Academic Mentorship: Guide students through the complexities of a British-style curriculum, ensuring they develop the critical thinking skills essential for success at global universities.
  • Community Engagement: Contribute to the “extended family” culture of BWIC by participating in school-wide activities, house competitions, and supporting the holistic development of our 195 students.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Generalist: Holds a recognized teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) and possesses a strong degree in a core academic field.
  • The "All-Rounder": An educator who demonstrates intellectual agility, capable of teaching across various disciplines (for instance, leading a Spanish seminar in the morning and a General Science lab in the afternoon).
  • Visionary Educator: Someone who is enthusiastic about the potential of a growing high school and eager to help expand our A-Level subject offerings.
  • Cultural Adaptability: While experience in an international or British-style school setting is preferred, we value passion, resilience, and professional adaptability.

Why Join BWIC?

  • A Dynamic Environment: Become part of a school that values your diverse talents and offers the freedom to teach in your areas of interest.
  • Modern Facilities: Benefit from dedicated IT labs, science facilities, and a specialized Sixth Form Centre designed for advanced studies.
  • Small Class Sizes: Provide individualized mentorship to a motivated and diverse student population.
  • An Unmatched Lifestyle: Experience life and work on "Provo," where your professional versatility is complemented by beautiful beaches and a supportive international faculty community.
