About This Role

Position Overview: We are looking for an energetic and dedicated Middle School Counselor to become part of our committed team starting in August 2026. This role presents an exciting chance for a counselor who is passionate about fostering educational growth and wants to play a key role in enhancing our students' academic journeys.

Job Purpose: To organize and deliver academic, personal, social, and emotional counseling for students.

Job Scope: You will hold the overall responsibility for creating and executing a counseling program that aligns with the needs of the school and its students, facilitating their success across all life dimensions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Promote and embody the ethos and standards of excellence as outlined in the GEMS Core Values.
- Set up processes and timelines to provide students with comprehensive counseling encompassing academic, personal, social, emotional, and psychological aspects.
- Oversee the transition process for students.
- Develop procedures for securing external support for students facing personal and emotional challenges.
- Collaborate with the senior management team to create experiences and activities that benefit students’ overall development, while fostering responsibility, leadership, teamwork, and other essential personal and social skills.
- Maintain detailed student records concerning progress, achievements, activities, and interests, while utilizing all available data to track student development.
- Implement proactive guidelines and procedures to address bullying effectively.
- Design and administer suitable testing programs to assess student aptitude and achievement.
- Establish a system to promptly inform parents regarding any academic or behavioral concerns.
- Ensure adherence to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.
- Demonstrate commitment by putting forth effort beyond the standard workday when necessary.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as required.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by direct and dotted line managers/supervisors.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
*Estimated range based on regional data averages.
