About This Role

Frontier School Division is looking for qualified applicants for the following position:

Position: Mental Wellness Worker
Location: Area 5 – Norway House, Manitoba
Start Date: As soon as possible
FTE: 1.00 FTE
Employment Term: Permanent

The Mental Wellness Worker will report directly to the Area Superintendent and will work under the guidance of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Wellness, as well as the Divisional Wellness Coordinator. This role will involve collaboration with a diverse team within the Student Services and Wellness Department of Frontier School Division. The position will actively engage with students, school support teams, families, and external partners to address needs through the delivery of direct clinical services, consultations, and both professional and public education initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work.
- Eligibility for or possession of a Manitoba School Clinician certificate.
- Current registration in good standing with a relevant licensing authority.
- Significant experience in providing individual and group counseling, including crisis intervention and trauma-informed approaches.
- Experience in case consultation, assessments, and interventions focused on promoting mental wellness.
- Strong knowledge of First Nation and Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Being, and Doing.
- Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and/or interdisciplinary teams.
- Capacity to collaborate efficiently with both internal and external service providers to support students, families, and school communities.
- Familiarity with pertinent legislation such as the Mental Health Act, CFS Act, and Vulnerable Persons Legislation.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to research, develop, and implement creative programs and support systems for students and school communities.
- Proficient in prioritizing, organizing, and managing caseload schedules to achieve targeted outcomes.
- Valid Manitoba driver’s license with the capability to travel, including overnight stays and flexible working hours as necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):
- Provide individual casework, group work, family support, and/or consultation tailored to the specific needs of the student or school to foster mental health and wellness from a holistic approach.
- Act as a bridge among the student, school support team, external agencies, and families.
- Maintain accurate and timely written records of therapy services rendered.
- Plan, support, and execute programs for students using a proactive, student-centered, and strength-based methodology.
- Assist school teams with crisis response supports and resources, working closely with local community and divisional resources.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
*Estimated range based on regional data averages.
