About the School
Located in the picturesque hamlet of Pangnirtung, Nunavut, Attagoyuk Ilisavik serves the local community. The school accommodates approximately 250 students in grades 6 to 12 and is supported by a team of 30 staff members. The school and its surrounding community are rich in Inuit cultural heritage.

Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- Valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligibility for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials assessed through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates do not need to meet every qualification; relevant experience and a commitment to community-focused education are highly valued.
Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written)
- Experience with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit-based education
- Background in teaching in bilingual or ESL environments
- Experience in cross-cultural or northern Canadian educational contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Familiarity with differentiated instruction and inclusive educational methods
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Training or experience using contemporary assessment techniques to guide learning
- Experience creating a positive learning environment through effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Proven ability to build respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community members
- Experience in promoting student well-being and engagement
- Engagement with students beyond the classroom, as appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and support for students
- Ability to work effectively as part of a school team
- Commitment to learning and contributing in a shared, community-centered environment

Compensation and benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (based on experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Pangnirtung, Nunavut: $19,077
- Subsidized Housing: NOT available

Conditions of Employment
- Current employees of the Government of Nunavut must hold a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut are required to submit a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
