About This Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate ICT, Computing, and STEM lessons in English for students in Years 1–6, aligned with the modified IPC curriculum of the school;
  • Introduce key programming concepts and computational thinking to students using visual programming languages such as ScratchJr, Scratch, Blockly, Tynker, and CoSpaces Edu;
  • Develop students' digital literacy capabilities, including typing skills, online research, multimedia creation (e.g., Canva, iMovie, GarageBand), and practices for internet safety;
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers and year-level teams to integrate technology and STEM into transdisciplinary and thematic learning experiences;
  • Manage and oversee ICT suites, as well as iPad/laptop carts and robotics kits (e.g., Bee-Bot, LEGO WeDo, Micro:bit), along with other relevant STEM resources and software;
  • Create and implement both formative and summative assessments, monitor student progress, and effectively communicate results to parents;
  • Lead at least one after-school club or co-curricular activity (CCA) each term that focuses on technology, coding, or robotics;
  • Assist in organizing school-wide technology initiatives, including Tech Week, coding competitions, and workshops for parents;
  • Participate actively in school events, parent-teacher conferences, professional development sessions, and department meetings, contributing to the school community.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Educational Technology, Primary Education, or a related field (a Master’s degree is preferred);
  • Certification: A valid teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, State License, or international equivalent), preferably with a specialization in primary education;
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching experience in primary ICT, Computing, or Digital Literacy; experience with IPC, Cambridge Primary, or IB PYP is highly valued;
  • Skills: Proficiency in using visual programming tools (ScratchJr, Scratch, Blockly), robotics kits (Bee-Bot, LEGO WeDo, Micro:bit), and creative media software (iMovie, GarageBand, Canva); experience in integrating technology into cross-curricular or transdisciplinary units is a notable advantage;
  • A strong foundational understanding of computational thinking, digital citizenship, and pedagogical strategies appropriate for teaching technology to primary students;
  • Creative, patient, and able to inspire young learners through play-based, inquiry-driven, and project-oriented methods;
  • Skilled in managing ICT resources, including device carts, robotics kits, and software licenses, demonstrating strong organizational abilities and accountability;
  • A true passion for teaching young children and a commitment to continuous professional growth.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
