Position Overview

ULIS is seeking a dedicated and experienced IB Geography Teacher to become part of our Secondary School team. The successful applicant will forge meaningful connections with students, adopt inquiry-based teaching methodologies, and commit to delivering high-quality international education in a dynamic, multicultural environment. This role entails teaching IB DP Geography and may extend to additional Geography classes for Middle or High School, depending on scheduling needs.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Facilitate engaging and impactful Geography lessons by employing inquiry-based, developmental, and constructivist teaching strategies.
  • Design, develop, and refine Geography curriculum resources that reflect global perspectives and comply with IB standards. Use diverse teaching approaches to cater to the varied learning styles and abilities of our multicultural student body.
  • Effectively incorporate technology into teaching practices to support ULIS's commitment to technology-enhanced and personalized learning.

Assessment & Feedback

  • Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods aligned with IB assessment criteria.
  • Offer timely and constructive feedback to students and their families regarding academic progress.

Classroom Culture & Pastoral Care

  • Create an inclusive, supportive, and secure classroom environment that values diversity and fosters a love for learning.
  • Uphold ULIS’s strong dedication to child protection, safeguarding, and ethical practices.

Collaboration & Professional Growth

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a unified and integrated educational experience across various subjects.
  • Participate in schoolwide initiatives, committees, and extracurricular activities.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated on IB standards and international best practices in Geography education.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Geography or a related field.
  • A recognized teaching certification.
  • Proven experience teaching Geography at the secondary level; experience with IB DP Geography is highly preferred.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Strong command of English (the instructional language at ULIS).
  • Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively, contributing to curriculum development and providing support for students requiring intervention.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
