About This Role

Duhovka is a private high school that uniquely integrates the Czech national curriculum with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP).

Our educational approach is rooted in Montessori principles, emphasizing inquiry, responsibility, and independent thinking.

We foster a warm and open environment while maintaining high academic expectations, preparing students for prestigious universities in both the Czech Republic and worldwide, as well as for a lifetime of learning in a global context.

JOB OFFER

We are seeking a passionate and qualified IB History Teacher who is excited to join our international teaching team on a long-term basis and can also instruct additional Humanities subjects (preferably Geography), depending on their skills and interests.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Teach History at both Middle and High School levels, including IB DP History
  • Craft and deliver engaging, inquiry-driven lessons
  • Foster students’ critical thinking, source evaluation, and argumentation abilities
  • Potentially teach other Humanities subjects (e.g., Geography), based on qualifications
  • Prepare students for IB assessments and written tasks
  • Provide constructive, criteria-based feedback
  • Support students in developing robust research, writing, and argumentation skills
  • Optionally participate in co-curricular activities such as CAS, Model UN, or the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across departments, contributing to interdisciplinary learning, student mentoring, and curriculum development

We highly appreciate candidates who are willing to take on several important co-curricular and leadership roles:

  • CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) Coordinator within the IB Diploma Programme
  • Model United Nations (MUN) elective leader
  • Coordinator for the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award

For those stepping into a coordinating or leadership role, a reduction in teaching load can be provided to accommodate these added responsibilities.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Native or near-native proficiency in English
  • Degree in History, Education, or a related field
  • Experience teaching at the secondary school level
  • IB DP teaching experience is preferred
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to inspire and intellectually engage students
  • Willingness to adopt Montessori-inspired principles and project-based learning

We particularly encourage applications from educators currently located in the Czech Republic or elsewhere in Europe with experience in international or bilingual educational environments. Familiarity with the Czech education system is highly valued.

What We Offer:

  • Employer-supported work permit process (full costs covered)
  • Comprehensive health insurance
  • Full-time contract with the potential for extension
  • 8 weeks of paid school holidays
  • Additional sick leave
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities
  • Various employee benefits
  • Supportive bilingual Czech-English staff team
  • Positive and respectful workplace culture
  • Competitive salary
  • Start date: August 2026
  • Contract: Full-time (22 teaching hours per week)
