About This Role
We are seeking a passionate and committed Assistant Teacher and High-Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to become part of our team starting in September 2026. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the academic journey of our students by facilitating supervised study sessions, offering support, and aiding in educational activities. This position is essential for helping students reach their academic aspirations while fostering a supportive learning atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the teacher with activities related to reading.
- Conduct small group sessions both inside and outside the classroom as instructed by the teacher.
- Prepare and organize classroom activities, including creating and setting up display work.
- Photocopy materials and assist in preparing worksheets and other resources as needed.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by direct and indirect supervisors/managers.
- Step in to cover classes for brief periods during emergency situations.
- Organize and tidy stock cupboards while distributing new supplies.
- Assist children with toilet needs and provide necessary changes or cleaning when required.
- Develop an understanding of pertinent aspects of the curriculum, such as literacy, numeracy, and phonetics.
- Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.
- Display initiative and dedication beyond regular working hours when tasks demand extra effort.
- Participate in staff meetings and serve on committees as necessary.
- Exercise tact, confidentiality, and discretion at all times, safeguarding confidential information and ensuring that any student or school-related details are not disclosed without the consent of the teacher or senior management team.
