Position Overview:

1. Specialization in Media & Film Studies:

  • Media and Film Knowledge: A thorough understanding of media theory, film history, and contemporary practices is crucial for delivering an engaging curriculum.
  • Curriculum Development: Expertise in designing, implementing, and enhancing an innovative media curriculum that captivates and challenges students.
  • Facilitate the IB Diploma Film course, promoting independent and creative filmmaking while ensuring students achieve technical proficiency.
  • Foster a classroom environment that encourages student creativity, critical thinking, and project-based learning.
  • Ignite students' enthusiasm for media and film, inspiring them to explore and artistically express their ideas.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enrich the curriculum and share best practices.

2. Specialization in Art/Visual Art:

  • Documented proficiency and expertise in at least two art-making disciplines (e.g., drawing, printmaking, photography, digital art).
  • A strong foundation in traditional methods (e.g., oil painting, stenciling, mixed media) alongside proficiency in digital software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Capability to integrate digital tools with traditional art techniques to create a comprehensive and evolving art curriculum.
  • Guide students in exploring art techniques and the development of their ideas across various year levels.
  • Actively demonstrate techniques and facilitate art-making processes, ensuring clarity and maintaining student engagement.
  • Regularly adapt teaching methods and units to reflect the changing visual arts landscape, ensuring the curriculum remains relevant and innovative.

General Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education or any subject along with a Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma in Education (PGCE/PGDE).
  • Familiarity with the MYP and foundational concepts of the curriculum frameworks is advantageous.
  • Newly qualified teachers or those with teaching experience from a recognized educational institution are welcome to apply.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The iPGCE (assessment only) does not qualify for Teacher Registration status from the Hong Kong Education Bureau, which is necessary for teaching at an ESF school.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
