About This Role

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree or higher, along with a strong foundation in early childhood development. Experience or a genuine enthusiasm for working with young children is essential. Each educator at SNA Marianapolis is responsible for crafting and executing an integrated experiential learning curriculum, adapting their teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student. In addition to traditional teaching roles, our faculty members engage in extracurricular activities with students, such as coaching sports or leading co-curricular trips that offer practical learning experiences. Ultimately, our educators are dedicated to fully participating in the lively atmosphere of the school.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Monitors student behavior within the classroom, throughout school grounds, and during educational excursions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Designs and develops an engaging curriculum aligned with age-appropriate standards, adhering to educational best practices and state and school district regulations.
  • Creates and implements individual lesson plans across multiple academic subjects, employing a variety of teaching strategies that accommodate different learning styles.
  • Prepares instructional materials for lessons, assignments, and assessments; evaluates, corrects, and grades student work.
  • Addresses academic challenges or behavioral issues with students as they arise.
  • Tracks students’ progress throughout the academic year and assesses their readiness for middle school.
  • Communicates student progress and concerns to parents and, when appropriate, other faculty, staff, and/or the principal with professionalism and sensitivity.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with parents.
  • Ensures safety and security standards are upheld for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintains necessary documentation for student files, attendance, incident reports, and other critical records.
  • Supervises hallways, study periods, and lunchrooms in collaboration with other faculty and staff.
  • Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, professional development opportunities, workshops, and other training sessions.
  • Remains informed about research, trends, and best practices in elementary education.
  • Takes on additional responsibilities, such as sponsoring student activities or organizations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • In-depth understanding of pedagogy and educational best practices.
  • A strong passion for teaching elementary-aged children and the ability to adapt to their developmental needs.
  • Ability to design engaging lessons that effectively convey the curriculum, utilizing a range of instructional methods including lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and both individual and group projects.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage classroom dynamics effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior interpersonal abilities with a proven track record of maintaining professionalism and tact in high-pressure situations.
