About This Role


As deputy Headteacher you will be expected to input into the strategic planning of the school,contributing to quality assurance and whole school improvement.

The successful individual will be a highly effective communicator who is kind, child-centred, and personable. You will possess the interpersonal skills necessary to build strong, trusting relationships with staff, parents, and pupils alike, ensuring that our vision for accessibility and excellence is shared and understood by all.

Main Purpose of the Job:

The post
requires you to work with pupils with a wide range of complex learning,
medical or behavioural difficulties. Your responsibilities in delivering the
curriculum will require you to work with colleagues to differentiate and
adapt teaching to meet the needs of all the children / young people in a
class.

To have
overall responsibility for continued delivery of high quality teaching and
learning for which you will be accountable. To make the education of your
pupils your first concern and in doing so be accountable for achieving the
highest possible standards in work and conduct.

To work
with others on curriculum and/or pupil development to secure co‑ordinated
outcomes.

To
evaluate the effectiveness of the school in terms of overall provision,
including pupil achievement, attainment and teaching and learning.

To
provide analysed assessment data from a variety of sources to inform future
whole school planning and resourcing.

Lead on
the development and implementation of whole school policies, particularly
those relating to teaching, learning, and wellbeing.

Provide
on the ground SEND training, classroom modelling, and oversight of the whole
school CPD programme for staff at all levels.

Supervise
the SENDCos and support more complex EHCP reviews.

Lead on
securing additional funding for pupils with complex needs and ensure that
such funding is used effectively and provides best value.

To
assist the Headteacher/Leadership Team in managing, leading and developing
the school thereby seeking to attain high standards of pastoral care, pupil
achievement, behaviour and social development.

To
assist in the development of strategies to promote and sustain an effective
leadership model which is focused on the rigorous implementation of
improvement plans.

To
assist and promote the effective and efficient use of resources.

In
partnership with the Headteacher and governors to establish and implement an
ambitious vision and ethos for the future of the school.

To
support the Headteacher in developing and maintaining high morale and
confidence amongst all staff.

In
partnership with the Headteacher to lead by example when implementing and
managing change initiatives.

To work
closely with other leaders to ensure effective transition across key stages.

To
manage and develop the teaching practice of other staff, monitoring progress
against achievement targets.

To
assist with the selection and appointment of staff to the school and with the
appointments of NQTs and students.

Take a lead
role in parent liaison, including managing the parent liaison team,
overseeing website content, and supporting staff with parental challenge and
complaints.

To
contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school’s
policies, practices and procedures in such a way as to support the school’s
values and vision.

To take
responsibility for safeguarding issues as appropriate.

To lead
and participate in meetings covering school and pupil activities and attend
and lead assemblies.

To assist
the Headteacher to support the Governing Body in fulfilling its
responsibilities in accordance with national legislation.

Headteacher is absent from the school you will undertake his / her
professional duties to the extent required by the Headteacher.

Compensation

£30,000 - £46,525 (MPS/UPS Scale)
