Cree Language Teacher

Island Lake First Nation School is on the lookout for a dedicated Cree Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid teaching certificate
• Have obtained a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
• Be eligible for a Saskatchewan Professional A or Provisional Professional A teaching certificate
• Follow the curriculum established by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education
• Commit to completing the full academic year
• Be willing to engage students' families and community members in classroom activities
• Respect and possess a deep understanding of Canada's First Nations, incorporating First Nations culture, values, and history into the curriculum
• Maintain high expectations for student achievement, especially in literacy and numeracy
• Demonstrate effective classroom management skills and utilize positive behavior management strategies
• Adapt teaching methods and curriculum to accommodate the inclusion of children with special needs.
