About This Role

Duties:

A. Knowledge and Understanding:

• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the National Curriculum, IGCSE, and IBDP.

• Possess a firm command of the subject matter.

• Address subject-specific inquiries from students effectively, while recognizing common misconceptions and errors related to their area of expertise.

• Be well-versed in all secondary school curricula and assessment standards.

B. Planning and Setting Expectations:

• Articulate clear educational goals, content, lesson frameworks, and sequences that are appropriate for both the subject and the learners.

• Establish high expectations that encourage student engagement and motivation. Set explicit learning objectives that build on previous knowledge and experiences.

• Identify students with special educational needs alongside those who are gifted and talented, and know how to seek support for delivering tailored assistance. Where appropriate, implement and document Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

C. Teaching and Managing Student Learning:

• Provide effective instruction to whole classes, small groups, and individual students, ensuring that teaching objectives are met and maintaining engagement and challenge while using instructional time productively.

• Utilize engaging teaching strategies that spark students' intellectual curiosity, employ effective questioning techniques, and present information clearly with the appropriate resources.

• Uphold high standards of student behavior, fostering an environment of discipline through focused teaching and nurturing positive relationships.

• Promote constructive behavior patterns, enhance self-esteem, and support independent work among students to facilitate their educational development in an ICT context.

D. Assessment and Evaluation:

• Assess the degree to which learning objectives have been met and use this evaluation to guide future instruction.

• Provide constructive feedback on students’ classwork and homework, assisting in setting progress targets.

• Understand the expectations for students concerning the National Curriculum, KS4, and KS5 when applicable.

E. Relations with Parents and the Wider Community:

• Know how to prepare and deliver informative reports to parents.

• Recognize that learning extends beyond the classroom and create opportunities for students to connect their education to real-world and work-related contexts.

• Acknowledge the importance of collaboration with external organizations.

F. Managing Own Performance and Development:

• Recognize the significance of taking initiative in one’s professional development and staying informed on educational research and advancements in relevant teaching subjects.

• Understand professional responsibilities regarding school policies, guidelines, and practices.

• Act as a positive role model for students in terms of appearance and conduct.

• Critically evaluate personal teaching practices and utilize this reflection to improve effectiveness.

G. Managing and Developing Staff and Other Adults:

• Foster strong collaborative relationships with professional colleagues, including co-teachers, specialized educators, and support staff.

H. Managing Resources:

• Select and effectively utilize books, equipment, ICT, and other educational materials that support the achievement of teaching goals.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and a valid teaching certificate or license, along with strong subject expertise.

• A minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience in an educational setting.

• Exhibit a rigorous teaching methodology across various year levels.

• Demonstrate a commitment to collaboration.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
