GEMS FirstPoint School is looking to recruit two outstanding school leaders for the position of Assistant Principal (Whole School). This role is part of a high-performing executive team at a flourishing, premium-tier British curriculum school, recognized as Outstanding (BSO) and Very Good (KHDA). With a student population exceeding 2,000, ranging from ages 2 to 18, FPS is a values-driven community with an ambitious vision and a proven history of innovation and positive outcomes. These senior positions are vital to the school’s continuous improvement journey and our established Path to Outstanding framework. Candidates who are successful will exhibit the strategic insight and operational determination necessary to drive enhancements across all educational phases. The specific responsibilities will be tailored to the skills and experiences of the selected candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead initiatives for whole-school improvement that have measurable impacts across all educational phases (from EYFS to Post-16).
  • Uphold high standards in teaching, learning, pedagogy, and curriculum design, ensuring alignment with research-informed and evidence-based practices.
  • Advocate for excellence in academic progress and achievement, ensuring the consistent application of high-impact strategies throughout departments.
  • Support and challenge teaching staff and middle leaders through a structured cycle of monitoring, evaluation, and accountability.
  • Contribute to both the strategic leadership and daily operations of the school as part of the executive team.
  • Innovate in curriculum development and instructional strategies to support the diverse needs of learners in a dynamic international setting.
  • Facilitate staff professional development and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Lead the strategic development and implementation of whole-school assessment, feedback, and reporting frameworks, ensuring they align with curriculum objectives, high standards, and evidence-informed practices.
  • Utilize assessment data effectively to guide teaching, interventions, and improvements, ensuring consistency and impact across various phases and subjects.

Essential Requirements:

  • Demonstrated history of leadership impact in high-performing schools.
  • Expertise in curriculum leadership, pedagogical coaching, and enhancing student attainment.
  • Strong understanding of effective whole-school monitoring, quality assurance systems, and data-driven improvement.
  • Well-read, research-savvy, and informed about current international education discussions.
  • Highly effective communicator with the presence and credibility to inspire and lead others.
  • Familiarity with or experience in implementing Lemov’s Teach Like a Champion, Sherrington’s Walkthrus, and Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction is highly advantageous.
  • Experience with inspection, accreditation, or external accountability frameworks is strongly preferred.
