About this role
This position focuses on the wellbeing of secondary students, in addition to providing university and career guidance, blending counselling, program leadership, and teaching. The counsellor collaborates closely with students, staff, and families to ensure effective pastoral care and successful post-secondary pathways.

Key responsibilities


Offer individual and small-group counselling to promote student wellbeing


Design and implement a comprehensive whole-school SEL programme, including workshops on resilience, mental health, and relationships.


Provide structured College & Careers guidance, including full assistance with university applications (e.g., UCAS, Common App)


Coordinate university visits, career fairs, and student workshops


Oversee the school’s university pathways and assist with international admissions


Utilize student data to guide interventions and enhance safeguarding and wellbeing


Work in partnership with staff, parents, and external organizations


Assist in crisis response and safeguarding protocols


Teach 5 periods per week of Values / College & Careers (Years 9–12)

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with certification in School Counselling


Demonstrated experience in advising on college/university applications


Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills


Dedication to student wellbeing and a collaborative approach with students, parents, and staff


Familiarity with UCAS and knowledge of international admissions systems (UK, US, Canada, Europe) is a plus

Compensation

£1,600 - £2,200 per month (Based on your classroom teaching experience and the school's teacher pays cale)
