About This Role

Humanities Teacher

Reach British School is looking to hire a dynamic, passionate, and dedicated Humanities Teacher to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong enthusiasm for subjects such as History, Geography, and Social Studies, and will be dedicated to providing engaging, well-organized lessons that foster students’ critical thinking, inquiry, and analytical skills. They will deliver effective, tailored feedback in accordance with key school policies related to Teaching & Learning and Assessment, ensuring that students are supported, challenged, and inspired to achieve outstanding results. Preference will be given to applicants with a specialty in History.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement high-quality Humanities lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and planning frameworks (LTPs, MTPs, and STPs).

Enhance students’ comprehension of historical events, geographical ideas, and global viewpoints.

Promote critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and discussions grounded in evidence.

Effectively structure lessons to maintain pace, challenge, and student engagement.

Ensure that learning objectives are clear and understood by all students.

Motivate and challenge each student through effective differentiation for individuals and groups.

Encourage curiosity and an appreciation for diverse cultures, societies, and historical contexts.

Assist students in honing their research, analytical, and presentation abilities.

Assign meaningful and engaging homework to reinforce and extend learning.

Utilize peer and self-assessment to foster reflection and improvement.

Manage classroom behavior and resources effectively.

Exemplify high expectations and encourage positive behavior in accordance with school policy.

Adapt teaching methods to accommodate all learners, including students of determination (SEN) and those with English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Ensure students grasp key subject-specific terminology and concepts within Humanities.

Incorporate SMSC development and reflect global awareness, citizenship, and enterprise in lesson planning.

Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where students feel at ease sharing their ideas and viewpoints.

AMAR: Academic Monitoring, Assessment and Reporting
Accurately assess both formative and summative assessments and moderate as necessary.

Utilize assessment data effectively to guide planning and enhance student progress.

Provide systematic, meaningful, and age-appropriate personalized feedback.

Complete personalized reports in accordance with the school’s Assessment and Reporting Policy.

Person Specification
Candidates must demonstrate:

A minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience in the UK or at a British Curriculum school.

Thorough understanding of the National Curriculum for England (English) and current assessment practices.

Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage students in meaningful learning.

Experience with data systems, student tracking, intervention strategies, and reporting.

A commitment to exceptional teaching and learning.

Proficiency in using IT and digital tools to enhance educational outcomes.

A desire to build strong relationships with parents.

A collaborative mindset towards supporting whole-school initiatives and the school improvement cycle.
