Responsible for: Primary Class Teacher role

Main purpose

The teacher will:

Adhere to the professional standards expected of a teacher and consistently align with the UK and UAE Teachers’ Standards.

Qualifications and experience


Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)


A Bachelor's degree and a recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed.) are required.


At least 2 years of successful primary teaching experience within the British Curriculum is preferred.


Experience teaching in the UAE is advantageous.

Skills and knowledge


Familiarity with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.


Understanding of adaptive teaching and learning approaches.


Solid grasp of child learning processes.


Ability to tailor teaching methods to suit individual pupil needs.


Skill in building constructive relationships with students.


Awareness of safeguarding guidelines and requirements.


Knowledge of effective strategies for managing classroom behavior.


Proficient in ICT, particularly in using technology to enhance learning.


Ethical and safe use of AI to support educational objectives.


An understanding of UAE policies and the inspection framework is desirable.

Duties and responsibilities

Teaching


Design and deliver well-structured lessons to designated classes, adhering to the school’s pedagogical framework, plans, curriculum, and schemes of work.


Assess, monitor, document, and report on the learning requirements, progress, and accomplishments of assigned students, utilizing assessment effectively.


Modify teaching approaches in response to the strengths and needs of students.


Establish high expectations that inspire and challenge students.


Encourage positive progress and results from students.


Demonstrate strong subject and curriculum expertise.


Engage in preparations for students’ external assessments.


Utilize culturally appropriate resources that comply with UAE laws and expectations.

Whole-school organization, strategy, and development


Contribute to the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of the school’s policies, practices, and procedures to support the school’s vision and values.


Make a positive impact on the broader life and ethos of the school.


Collaborate with others on curriculum and student development to achieve coordinated outcomes.


Provide cover in instances where another teacher is unavailable.


Lead assigned extracurricular activities before, during, and after school hours.

Management of staff and resources


Direct and supervise designated support staff and, when appropriate, other teachers.


Assist in the recruitment and professional development of fellow teachers and support staff.

Safeguarding


Work in accordance with statutory safeguarding guidelines (e.g., Keeping Children Safe in Education) and the school's safeguarding and child protection policies.

Collaborate with the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) to prioritize the well-being of students, sharing concerns when necessary.

Ensure the safeguarding of all students within the school at all times.

Other areas of responsibility


Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and frameworks set forth by the KHDA, BSO, and the UAE Ministry of Education.


Assist the leadership team in preparing for and executing the KHDA inspection process, developing and adhering to post-inspection action plans.


Contribute to the success of the UAE National Agenda.


Maintain positive and professional communication with all KHDA and Government Officials and represent the school at required forums and meetings at the request of the Principal.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
