Each educator at SNA Marianapolis is tasked with crafting and executing a well-defined experiential learning curriculum, adapting instructional methods to cater to the distinct needs of every student. Beyond traditional classroom duties, faculty members take part in extracurricular activities, whether they are coaching sports or leading educational trips that provide hands-on learning experiences. Ultimately, our educators are expected to fully immerse themselves in the school community.

The Middle School Teacher will be responsible for designing and delivering the educational curriculum across one or more subjects tailored to students in the middle grades, acting as a bridge between elementary and secondary education.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Oversee student behavior in the classroom, on school premises, and during educational excursions.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement a captivating, age-appropriate curriculum, following educational best practices and adhering to state and district guidelines.
• Create and present detailed lesson plans in one or more subjects utilizing diverse teaching methodologies that cater to various learning preferences.
• Prepare instructional materials for lessons, assignments, and assessments; assess and grade student performance.
• Address academic challenges or behavioral issues with students promptly.
• Track student progress throughout the academic year and assess readiness for high school.
• Communicate student progress and concerns with professionalism and sensitivity to parents and, when necessary, other faculty, staff, and/or the principal.
• Establish and nurture positive relationships with parents.
• Uphold safety and security protocols for students, staff, and visitors.
• Maintain accurate records for individual student files, attendance, incident reports, and other essential documentation.
• Supervise hallways, study periods, and lunch areas alongside other faculty and staff.
• Engage in faculty meetings, educational conferences, in-service training, workshops, and other professional development opportunities.
• Stay informed about research, advancements, and best practices in middle-grade education.
• Undertake related tasks such as leading student activities or clubs.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Comprehensive understanding of pedagogy and educational best practices.
• Passion for teaching middle school-aged children and the ability to cater to their developmental needs.
• Capacity to create engaging lessons that convey the curriculum effectively, employing various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and collaborative projects.
• Strong supervisory and leadership capabilities to manage the classroom effectively.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism and tact under pressure.
• Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Creative analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:
• A bachelor's degree in Education or a related field is required; a master's degree is preferred.
• A state teaching license is required.
• Previous experience teaching middle school-aged children is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit for extended periods at a desk, work on a computer, or stand while teaching.
• Must be able to navigate the campus, utilize stairs multiple times throughout the day, and adjust one’s posture by bending, leaning, or sitting on the floor to effectively teach each child.

Compensation

$2,300 - $2,600 per month (- housing allowance - support children - making WP and TRC to stay legal in Vietnam - health insurance - holidays and breaks)
