About This Role

Aldar Academies is actively seeking an outstanding Teacher - English (EAL) for Yas American Academy, with a start date of August 2026.

Founded in September 2016, Yas American Academy provides high-quality education in the Emirate. Our curriculum is rooted in the Massachusetts Common Core, tailored to engage our students, alongside the local curriculum that includes Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Social Studies. RESPONSIBILITIES

In your role, you will plan and execute outstanding teaching and learning in line with the school's Teaching and Learning Policy by:

  • Creating an environment that fosters exceptional learning experiences;
  • Establishing clear educational goals for teaching and learning;
  • Setting achievable targets that build on students' prior achievements;
  • Identifying students with SEN (POD), EAL, and G&T needs, ensuring differentiated instruction to meet their requirements;
  • Effectively structuring lessons and activities to maintain student engagement, pace, and challenge;
  • Utilizing assessment for learning in a constructive manner;
  • Using performance data and key indicators to inform lesson planning, allowing for differentiated instruction;
  • Incorporating ICT to enhance student learning and progress;
  • Maintaining discipline in accordance with the school's 'Behaviour for Learning Policy' while encouraging punctuality, positive behavior, and high standards of work and homework;
  • Assessing the attainment of learning objectives to refine aspects of teaching and learning;
  • Regularly marking student work and setting progress targets in accordance with the school's Marking Policy;
  • Systematically evaluating and recording student progress, using performance data to guide planning and support student development;
  • Conducting assessments as required by examination bodies and adhering to departmental and school protocols;
  • Preparing and presenting detailed reports to parents;
  • Engaging in and supporting parent/student events;
  • Contributing to subject development by creating, reviewing, and updating curriculum plans and work schemes;
  • Collaborating with other professionals, such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, when necessary;
  • Performing additional responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Leadership Team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, alongside a PGCE or an equivalent teaching qualification.

Minimum Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as an English teacher within the American curriculum framework.
